Fringe Benefits is a 1977 comedy by Australian playwright Peter Yeldham [1] and Donald Churchill.

Translations and adaptations

Adapted by Pierre van Pletzen into a play entitled Is the Mouse Boss? as well as into an Afrikaans version Is die Muis Baas?.

Performance history in South Africa

1977: Fringe Benefits starring Rex Garner with Erica Rogers, Melody O'Brian, Minky Schlessinger and Norman Anstey at the Academy.

1980: Fringe Benefits presented by Figleaf Productions (Fig Leaf Productions?) starring Nicholas Lorentz, Vera Blacker, Caroline Fox, Elaine Proctor, Val de Klerk.

1994: Is the Mouse Boss? was presented by Pieter Toerien at the Alhambra Theatre opening 24 August 1994 and 7 December 1994 at the Theatre on the Bay directed by Pierre van Pletzen and Tammy Bonell starring Tobie Cronjé, Annelisa Weiland, Neville thomas, Judy Broderick, Carin Slabbert, Sylvaine Strike, Dirk Stoltz. Set design by James Macnamara, lighting design by Jannie Swanepoel.

1994: TRUK Toneel presented Is die Muis Baas? directed by Pierre van Pletzen. The cast were Hannes Muller, Antoinette Kellermann, James Borthwick, Marion Holm, Ronel Kriel, Elzette Maarschalk, Gino Strydom. Design by James Macnamara, lighting by Jacques Mulder.

2006: Staged by Kookoo Productions, produced by Elzabe Zietsman and Theresa du Preez, directed by Pierre van Pletzen, with Rika Sennett (Louise van Biljon), James Borthwick (Sarel van Biljon), Christel van den Bergh (Jennifer), Annerika Nieman (Suzie), David Clatworthy (Neels Coetzee), Hannes Brummer (Fonnie) and Isadora Verwey (Marie Pieterse).
