Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, by Tennessee Williams. It was produced by the Playwrights' Company. One of Williams's best-known works and his personal favorite,[1] the play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1955. Set in the "plantation home in the Mississippi Delta"[2] of Big Daddy Pollitt, a wealthy cotton tycoon, the play examines the relationships among members of Big Daddy's family, primarily between his son Brick and Maggie the "Cat", Brick's wife.
Performance history in South Africa
Directed by Leonard Schach for the Arts Theatre Association, Cape Town, at the Labia Theatre in 1956, starring Joyce Bradley, Edna Jacobson, Johann Nell, Lily-Jean Satusky, Gerrit Wessels and Nicholas Wright. Decor by Giuseppe Cappon, costumes by Mavis Taylor.
Directed by Barney Simon for Baxter Company '80 Production in 1980, with Aletta Bezuidenhout, Wilson Dunster, Linda Harris, Barbara Maguire, Joe Stewardson, Norman Coombes, Richard Cox, Don Maguire, Maeve Slemon, Candice Fuchs, Lisa Farber, Richard Kilpert, Jason Kay, Renault Kay.
Presented by PACT at the State Theatre in August 1982, directed by Aubrey Berg. Starring Lena Farugia, Ron Smerczak, Victor Winding, Paddy Canavan, Rika Sennett, David Crichton, Norman Coombes. Costumes and sets by Chris van den Berg.
