Careful

by Fiona Coyne. A comedy about an actress deperate for a work in the new South Africa, who gets the opportunity to play a lesbian in a new play and then consults a lesbian critic on the role. A product of the Artscape New Writing Programme and first produced by Artscape and the Siyasanga Cape Town Theatre Company at the Absolut International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival in 2009, directed by Roy Sergeant, with designs by Alfred Rietman and starring Diane Wilson and Deirdre Wolhuter. Coyne was nominated as best playwright and Wilson won best actress award at the Festival. The play opened in Cape Town at the Artscape Arena Theatre on 19th September, 2009.
