Jacob Hendrik Pierneef

("J.H."). (1886-1957). A pre-eminent South African landscape painter whose distinctive works adorn numerous public buildings. He often did linocuts and woodcuts as book illustrations and for the covers of magazines and theatre programmes - e.g. ***.
