The original text
Written for the Afrikaner Taalkongres held there in January 1897 and performed for the first time in the Town Hall, Paarl, during the congress.
The text was included in Di bedriegers, Magrita Prinslo, en ander Afrikaanse dramas en samesprake tot 1900, a collection of early Afrikaans performance pieces compiled by F.C.L. Bosman and published by the Voortrekkerpers in 1942. A second edition of the collection was published by Human & Rousseau in 1975.
