Roger Orton (1931-). Actor, director and academic.
Trained at the Department of Drama, University of Natal, Durban. He became head of the Drama Department University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg during the 1970s.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He acted in As You Like It (as Jacques), Hamlet (NAPAC 1964), A Man for All Seasons (as Thomas More, 1964), Twelfth Night, or What You Will (as Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Durban 1970).
He directed University of Natal Department of Speech and Drama productions of The Maids (circa 1964), Love's Labour's Lost (1976) and The Other Side of the Wardrobe (1983).
