The Anastasia File is a play by English playwright Royce Ryton (1924-2009)[1].

The original text

Did the daughter of Tsar Nicholas II die with the rest of the imperial family in 1918? Or was she the girl found in an asylum in 1920? Ryton's play presents the case for and against "Mrs. Manahan".

It appears to have first been written in 1978 and first produced at the start of the 80s. The text published in 1986 by Samuel French

Performance history in South Africa

1986-1987: Produced by Pieter Toerien, first performance at the Leonard Rayne Theatre 28 June 1986 and at the Baxter Theatre in 1987. Directed by John Carson, starring Sandra Duncan, John Whiteley, Neville Thomas, Michael Maxwell, Theresa Iglich. Set designed by John Carson and Jannie Swanepoel, lighting by Jannie Swanepoel, costume designer John Tullis.
