The Peacemaker (also known as The Lodger) is a curtain-raiser (short comic play) by Stephen Black (1879-1931).

A farcical one-act play which deals with the visit of a pretentious and pompous town councillor to the Johnstone-Achteruit family. The play explores social issues of English/Afrikaans, master/servant, male/female relationships.

The manuscript of the play is in the South African Library in Cape Town.

Published in Modern Stage Directions (Cape Town: Maskew Miller, 1984).
