A.A. Balkema Publishers is a publishing house in Cape Town.
Also referred to as A.A. Balkema or simply Balkema.
Founded by the Dutch and South African bookseller August Aimé Balkema (1906-1996)[1] in 1946.
Besides historical and academic publications, also a publisher of innovative and controversial literary works, including playtexts, such as Guy Butler's, including The Dam (1953), Cape Charade (1968) and Take Root or Die (1970); Athol Fugard's The Coat and Don Maclennan's and The Third Degree (in one volume, subtitled "Two Experiments in Improvisation", 1971),
