Danie Bosman: Die Verhaal van die Grootste S.A. Komponis ("Danie Bosman: The story of the greatest S.A. composer") is an Afrikaans film by Elmo de Witt

Also known as Die Danie Bosman Storie and often simply referred to as Danie Bosman.

The film

A film set in the Depression-era in South Africa that tells the story of a pioneering composer and lyricist of popular Afrikaans music, the civil servant Danie Bosman (1907– 1946)[1] who had a dream of being a composer.

Produced by Tommie Meyer for Kavalier Films, directed by Elmo de Witt with a script by Gilbert Gibson. The film had a large cast that included Franz Marx (as "Danie Bosman"), Min Shaw (as "Dorothy Bosman"), Fritz van Lingen, Siegfried Mynhardt, Don Leonard, Brian O'Shaughnessy, Danie Steyn, Pietie Meyer, Dirkie van den Bergh, Müller Retief, Sann de Lange, Louis van Niekerk, Kenneth Baker, Ralph Loubser, Max Angorn, Dulcie van den Bergh, Ian Yule, Josh du Toit, Pieter Geldenhuys, Achmat Hamit and Denis McLean. The singing voices of Gert Potgieter (as "Chris Lessing") and Lance James (as "Danie Bosman") were used for the actors appearing those roles.

The rest of the crew included Ben Vlok as associate producer, with cinematography by Louis de Witt, assisted by Uwe Beckmann, Koos Roets and Pieter Vanas and editing by Oscar Burn, Carol Brundle, Sias Odendaal, Nalene van Niekerk, Manie van Rensburg and Gerrie van Wyk.

Production management included Philip Markgraaff and Anna Richter-Visser, with Bert Aurik as art director, Con Lamprecht as musical director, Joey Saaiman as choreographer.
