Biography
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He was a member of the Alfred Dramatic Club (later the Royal Alfred Dramatic Club) in the period 1860-61. In March of 1861 he was the joint creator/performer, with Mr St George, of a "Grand Drawingroom Entertainment" called Music under Difficulties, or The Composer in Search of Quiet by and Mr Chester (St George performing 15 roles). This formed part of a larger "Grand Entertainment" in the Theatre Royal, which also included a performance of negro songs by Mr D'Urban's Ethiopian Minstrels.
