Mr St George
Mr St George (fl. mid 19th century) was a Cape Town resident and amateur performer.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He was a member of the Alfred Dramatic Club (later the Royal Alfred Dramatic Club) in the period 1860-61. In March of 1861 he temporarily bid the amateur theatre a farewell to put on a "Grand Entertainment" of his own in the Theatre Royal. The event included a performance of negro songs by Mr D'Urban's Ethiopian Minstrels, a Grand Drawingroom Entertainment called Music under Difficulties, or The Composer in Search of Quiet by Mr St George and Mr Chester (St George himself performing 15 roles).
