La Périchole
La Périchole is an opéra bouffe in three acts by Jacques Offenbach (1819-1880)[1], with a French libretto by Henri Meilhac (1830-1897)[2] and Ludovic Halévy ()[].

The original text
The libretto was based on a one act play Le Carrosse du Saint-Sacrement by Prosper Merimee ()[], written in the 1829 and revived on 13 March 1850 at the Théâtre-Français.
