Performance history in South Africa

1889: Performed by Lionel Brough as part of his repertoire while on tour in South Africa under the auspices of Luscombe Searelle, inter alia appearing in it for a few nights at the Vaudeville Theatre, Cape Town towards the end of the year.

1902: Performed by the comedian Willie Edouin when he was brought out to perform in South Africa by the Wheeler Theatre Company in March. The piece is described as "a singularly unattractive piece" by the Cape Town critic D.C. Boonzaier in his 1923 theatre memoirs[], though he does praise Edouin's comic abilities.
