Montserrat
Montserrat (1948), is a tragedy written in French by Emmanuel Roblès (1914-1995) [1]. The play is about the civil war in Venezuela and was performed for the first time in the Théâtre Montparnasse in Paris on 23 April 1948.

Translated into Afrikaans by Bartho Smit and published in the series Bartho Smit-vertalings by HAUM-Literêr in 1984 with Becket, of Die Eer van God by Anouilh and Die Burgemeester by Hofmann in in the same volume.
Performance history in South Africa
1963: The play was presented in Afrikaans by PACT in the National Theatre, Pretoria and the Civic Theatre, Johannesburg and taken on tour from November to December 1963. It was directed by George Goussard, starring Francois Swart, Patrick Mynhardt, Japie van Niekerk, Dawid van der Walt, Limpie Basson, Jannie Gildenhuys, Kita Redelinghuys, Phyllis Punt, James Norval, Jan Bruijns, Cobus Rossouw, Ernst Eloff, Rudolf Fenske, Cobus Ferreira and Roelf Laubscher. Decor by Cazick Dubinski.
