Jobie Stewart

Jobie Stewart (1934-1991). Actor. Later known as Job Stewart in England.

Biography

Born in Cape Town, went to Christian Brothers College and studied drama at the University of Cape Town. January 20, 1934 in Cape Town, South Africa. He died on October 23, 1991 in Hong Kong.

His theatre credits include roles in King John (Shakespeare, Old Vic Theatre, London, 1953); Julius Caesar (Shakespeare , Old Vic Theatre, London, 1955); Saint Joan (Shaw, Old Vic Theatre Company, New York City Center in New York, 1962)

South Africa

While studying, he began working in theatre in Cape Town, and had roles in The Glass Menagerie (Dir. Leonard Schach, 1949, in Little Theatre, Cape Town), Home of the Brave, 1950.

In 1950 he joined NTO for Hassan.

Film and TV

He mainly worked in TV in England, (under the name Job Stewart) beginning with the Producers' Showcase, a TV Series, followed by many other series, including Armchair Theatre (1957-1963), The First Churchills (1969), Play for Today (1975) and Love in a Cold Climate (1980).

Film roles included The Lift (1965), The Last Shot You Hear (1969), Qing cheng zhi lian (1984) and Gong xi fa cai (1984)
