F.C.L. Bosman (1980) refers to two people simply known as "Leonard".

Bosman also names three other people with the surname of "Leonard": C.W. Leonard, Chrissie Leonard and F.W. Leonard (see the entries on them).

People referred to simply as "Leonard" in South Africa

"Leonard" the performer (fl 1870s)

He was a Cape Town resident and apparently a singer and dancer, listed as one of the ballet troupe known as The Kickapoos (also at times called "The Grotesques"), he is also referred to more formally as Mr Leonard, in the style of the period.

The The Kickapoos was apparently founded by, and consisted of, Mr Wilmore, Mr Leonard and Mr Pine, who performed comic ballets in Cape Town, often appearing in presentations by with the Disney Roebuck company. Leonard also sang songs on occasion, as interludes between plays.

"Leonard" the Dutch playwright/translator/adaptor (fl 1880s)

A Leonard is mentioned as the Dutch author of one act plays and also as a translator/adaptor of a number of French plays. Though it is not specified whether this person was a Dutch citizen resident in Holland or in South Africa, it seems most probable that he/she was a member of the a Rederijkerskamer in the Netherlands, for which the plays were written or translated.

The plays ascribed to Leonard include Levend Verbrand, De Zwarte Kaptein

Plays translated/adapted by Leonard include De Hoed van den Horlogemaker (Girardin), Een Huis te Koop (Duval)
