The Harvey-Turner Opera Company was one of the earliest opera companies to visit South Africa, performing there in 1875-6.
The company (referred to as a "strange ragtag company of singers" by Kurt Ganzl), apparently included Charles Turner, Marie Dolby, Louie Costin, Mr Morelli, and others.
They visited the goldfields in Johannesburg and Cape Town for almost a year, with a repertoire that included Faust, Il Trovatore, Maritana, The Bohemian Girl, Lobgesang and Stabat Mater.
