A loosely knit association which was apparently founded at the beginning of the 20th century, and over the years had an influence on the development of theatre in the provincial capital and indeed the country. For example they did the first performance of Afrikaner Harte ("Afrikaner Hearts") by M.M. Jansen in the Opera House, Pretoria in 1918, under the direction of Stephanus Maré?*. During the 1920s students of this institution, led by Stephanie Faure continued being active, producing one of the earliest productions of H.A. Fagan's Lenie on 18 October 1924 **
