Adam Small Theatre Complex
The Adam Small Theatre Complex is the name of a multi-facility theatre centre on the campus of the Stellenbosch University Drama Department.
An extension and revamp of the H.B. Thom Theatre, the venue was enlarged in 2016-2017, to reopen in 2018. The venue was also renamed after the South African poet, playwright and academic, Adam Small. The old name has however been retained on the historic ornamental front façade of the building, to acknowledge the history of the venue.
The newly named venue was officially inaugurated on 23 November, 2018, with a performance of the musical tribute called Adam Small BeJazzed, featuring Natalia de Rocha and members of the Cape Town based Applauz Arts Initiative and an extract from the production Cry, Our Beloved Country. Met/Sonder Apologie by drama students directed by Mareli Hattingh Pretorius.
