The English text first performed 17 February, 1862 in the Opera Comique London.
Performance history in South Africa
1870: Performed in English as The Jeweller of St James by the Young Men's Institute and Club Dramatic Company, Cape Town, on 25th August, with Matchmaking (Poole/)
