The Hole in the Wall
The Hole in the Wall is a farce in two acts by John Poole
The original text
It was first performed at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London, in 1813 and published by J.M. Richardson in the same year. It may on occasion have been performed under the title The Secret, or The Hole in the Wall (e.g. in Baltimore, 1843).
1858: A farce called The Secret of the Hole in the Wall (no author given) was performed at the Harrington Street Theatre, Cape Town, by the Cape Town Dramatic Club on 9 July, 1858, with Plot and Passion, or The Female Gambler (Taylor and Lang). This was most probably a version of Poole's text.
