Karel Schoeman (1939-2017) [1]. Iconoclastic Afrikaans novelist, scriptwriter and librarian.

Besides publishing numerous award-winning novels and documentary books, he has translated plays, including Maria Stuart by Schiller, ** and **.
His novel By Fakkellig has been adapted for the stage.
He has also written a number of radio and TV scripts. These include Vedlslag published by Human & Rousseau; 1989 and Die Jare published by Human &; Rousseau, 1976.
