He was a student at the Rhodes University Drama Department.

Performed in Twelfth Night ( as “Toby Belch” at Maynardville) and in The Bedsitting Room (as “Captain Kak” at the Market Theatre).

Other productions include Moeite met die Minnaars (1968), Picnic in Town (1968), Hansie die Hanslam (1969), The Winter's Tale (Maynardville 1971), White Horse Inn (1972), a production in Afrikaans of Hamlet (1973), Hond se Gedagte (1973), The Rivals, Arme Moordenaar (1974), Die Laaste van die Takhare, Lappies die Lappiesmous, Afrikaners is Plesierig, Antigone (by Sophocles), Die Weerstaanbare Opkoms van Arturo Ui.
