On Broadway
A revue, cabaret and theatre venue in Cape Town which was originally opened in 1997 by Russell Shapiro, the proprietor of the very popular Café Manhattan, in Somerset Road, Greenpoint. It then moved to 88 Shortmarket Street in the CBD in 2005. The inspiration for this was Eauvre the Top
In early 2005 Russell decided it was time to relocate to more upmarket, glamorous bigger premises -and in April 2005 On Broadway re-opened to much media buzz at it's new home - 88 Shortmarket Street, Cape Town.
On Broadway is known for its eclectic array of shows ranging from musical tribute shows, original musical shows, stand-up comedians to straight plays. Many top performers have performed at On Broadway including Pieter-Dirk Uys, Elsabe Zietsman and Marc Lottering.
