A general name given to occasional companies of French amateur performers who performed at the Cape in the early years of the 19th century. Among the individuals who became involved with such performances included C.M. Villet, J. Riaux, J.A. Rouvière, J.G. Tredoux, F. Agron, C.E. Boniface, L. Meurant.
