The name "Clavigo" (probably taken from Goethe's play Clavigo) was also used as a pseudonym by a Cape Town reporter/correspondent in South African Commercial Advertiser circa 1836 (e.g. on 18 February Clavigo wrote about the year's programme to be offered by the company Vlyt en Kunst) .
