The Guga S'Thebe Arts and Cultural Centre was created in the 1990s as a focal point for cultural improvement and empowerment of Langa township, one of the oldest townships in South Africa. The centre is equipped with an amphitheatre, conference room, meeting rooms, exhibition areas, art studios, a resource centre, an Internet café and also a Cape Town Tourism Visitor Centre. Not only is this venue available for hire but it is open to the public from Monday to Friday between 9h00 and 18h00.

In 2015 a new venue, the the Guga S'Thebe Theatre was added to the Centre, which is a central point in the Langa Cultural Precinct.
