Verse drama about power relations in a Xhosa traditional society, a thriller, filled with suspense and conflict.
First published in 1974 by Thanda Press, King Williamstown then published by Educum in 1978.
Production history
2009: First produced as Amaza by Artscape in 2009, adapted for the stage and directed by Itumeleng Wa-Lehure. The production featured Thando Baliso, Lukhanyo Bele, Zoleka Helisi, Alicia Nosidima Hloyi, Nandipha Jama, Lindelwa Kali, Zoliswa Kawe, Nobuhle Kethelo, Lulama Mame, Bongile Mantsai, Masizole Marafana, Anele Matoti, Nandipha Mnyuka, Pepeswi Phumzile Ngxukuma, Portia Njozela, Sylvia Bulelwa Ntlantlu, Saxola Nyamza, Pumeza Rashe and Monde Xakwe. Designs by Patrick Curtis, music direction by Bongani Magatyana.
2014: Presented in the Artscape Theatre Centre in May.
