Peter Kleinschmidt

KLEINSCHMIDT, , Peter. (19**-) Influential and controversial director. Born in Germany ***, he was brought to South Africa in 1962 by Donald Inskip to work with the Department of Speech and Drama at the University of Cape Town. His first production here was Ionesco’s Rhinoceros at the Little Theatre. ***He later worked with The Space Theatre (doing **, ***, **), CAPAB (***, **,**), PACT (**, **, and **) and SWAPAC (***, **, **). Married to equally controversial South African writer, director and actress Mitzi Booysen.?* In 1981 he received the[[[Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards|Fleur du Cap Lifetime Award]] for his contribution to the industry.
