Biography
He grew up in Beaufort West.
He married the actress and director Estelle Bekker (Estelle Pentz) and was the father of performer and musician Adrian Bekker.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He was a member of the Bellvillese Afrikaanse Toneelvereniging (BAT) and also performed for the state funded companies of NTO and CAPAB.
Appearances on stage included Absolom, my Seun!, Die Nagtegaal, Ampie II, Helshoogte (1943), Geleende Vere (1944) with Die André Huguenet Geselskap; Liefde in Satyn (1947), Germanicus (NTO/BAT 1957), Die Loodswaaiers (KRUIK 1966), Die Dame met die Kamelias (KRUIK 1966), Cyrano de Bergerac (KRUIK 1969), 'n Skip is Ons Beloof (KRUIK 1969), 'n Wingerdstok sal Rank (1971), Stilte Asseblief (BAT 1972), Ai tog die Mansmense! (BAT 1970s), Vergelegen (KRUIK 1974), Twaalfde Nag (KRUIK 1975).
In 1947 he was stage manager for Liefde in Satyn.
He assisted in directing Klatergoud (1966).
He had roles in the films Die Spook van Donkergat (film) and Tant Ralie se Losieshuis (1974).
