Birth of a Union is a ona-act6 play by Gordon Bagnall.
A dramatisation of the National Convention of 1908, which brought about the founding of the Union of South Africa. The play dramatizes the three issues which caused the most contention amongst the delegates: union or federation, the native issue, and the sitting of the capital city. It was first staged in 1960 published by Oxford University Press, Cape Town in the same year.
1960: Performed at the City Hall, Cape Town, in May , as part of the Union Festival, held in celebration of fifty years of union.
