by Gordon Bagnall. A one-act play which is a dramatisation of the National Convention of 1908 which brought the Union of South Africa. The play dramatizes the three issues which caused the most contention amongst the delegates: union or federation, the native issue, and the sitting of the capital city. It was first staged at the City Hall, Cape Town, in May 1960, as part of the festival to celebrate fifty years of union. First published by Oxford University Press, Cape Town 1960.**
