Set up in the Lovedale Mission Station in the early 20th century, this press published numerous works by black writers and was instrumental in creating a body of literary writing for African languages. The director was R.W.H. Shepherd (19**-19**).
Among the plays published by the press were H.I.E. Dhlomo’s The Girl Who Killed to Save (1935/6), Iziganeko ZomKristu by E.W. Oules (n.d.), Zangen’iinkomo by M.L. Mbidlana (1954), Bhut’Lizo ndixolele by N. Mbekeni & P.M. Ntloko (1979), .
