Mary Byron died of cancer, 1953.

She directed Night Must Fall, Clutterbuck, A Man About the House, Hedda Gabler, Charley's Aunt, Home at Seven, The Happiest Days of Your Life, all for the Brian Brooke Company.

She produced Laura for the Cape Reps in 1948.
