My Awful Dad

My Awful Dad is a comedy by Charles Matthews (Charles James Matthews, 1803–1878)[1].

The original text

Usually listed as a comedy in two acts, it appears to have been first performed by Matthews at the , London, in 1856. However, an undated published text[2] by Dick & Fitzgerald, New York, has it as a comedy in three acts.

Performance history in South Africa

1885: Performed by the Disney Roebuck and his company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, opening on March 19th. The cast also included H.C. Sidney, H. Harries, Constance Young, Alice Norton, and others.
