The Harvey-Turner Opera Company was one of the earliest opera companies to visit South Africa, performing there in 1875-6.
The company (referred to as a "strange ragtag company of singers" by Kurt Ganzl, 2017: p. ), apparently included Charles Harvey, James William Turner, Marie Dolby, Louie Costin, Mr Morelli, and others.
They visited the goldfields in Johannesburg and Cape Town for almost a year, with a repertoire that included Faust, Il Trovatore, Maritana, The Bohemian Girl, Lobgesang and Stabat Mater.
