The Commercial Exchange, Cape Town
This building was originally built as a **** in 1816 (1819?), the foundation stone being laid by Sir Charles Somerset. Its halls (rooms) were often used for theatrical and musical presentations. It later was to house the Drawing Room Theatre of Sefton Parry (1855-18**) and was the site of/venue for?? the Opera House (189*-19**).
Performances
The Harper-Leffler Company performed six concerts of opera selections in the Commercial Exchange and the Mutual Hall, Cape Town from 5 August - 9 September 1868.
