She was a member of Hendrik Hanekom's first professional company, Die Afrikaanse Toneelspelers, from the start in October 1925, playing "Maria" in Oom Gawerjal se Dogters en die Stemkoors ("Uncle Gawerjal's Daughters and the Election Fever").
