Jean Marquard

Jean Marquard (19*) was an academic and literary reviewer.

She studied at the University of Stellenbosch and, as a student, had a role in Antigone (by Sophocles) in 1961. She later taught at the English Department, University of the Witwatersrand. Passed away of cancer at the age of 42.

She was married to Prof Geoff Hughes and they had one son, Conrad Hughes.
