Jean Marquard (1941 - 1984) was lecturer, author and poet.


-- Personal papers, correspondence, photographs, press clippings, notebooks, diaries, research publications, articles, short stories, reviews, radio interviews and her thesis on WC Scully for D.Phil.

BEING WRITTEN

She studied at the University of Stellenbosch and, as a student, had a role in Antigone (by Sophocles) in 1961. A Rhodes scholar, she later taught at the English Department at University of the Witwatersrand. Passed away of cancer at the age of 42.

She was married to Prof Geoff Hughes and they had one son, Conrad Hughes.
