Teahouse of the August Moon by John Patrick, a comedy satirizing the U.S. occupation of Japan following the end of World War II. Adapted from a 1951 novel by Vern J. Sneider. First performed on Broadway in 1953, winning both a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award. The play was, in turn, adapted to a film in 1956 starring Glenn Ford and Marlon Brando. First produced in South Africa in 1955 by Brian Brooke, directed by Michael Finlayson, starring Heather Lloyd-Jones, Brian Brooke as Sakini and Rory MacDermott. Decor and costumes by Pamela Lewis.
