The 10th Regiment of the British forces was stationed in King Williams Town on the Eastern Cape border circa 1866-69. The officers apparently put on some performances during their term of duty there, probably in a venue in the garrison.
Performances mentioned include:
According to the Cape Argus of 15 September 1863, they performed The Dead Shot (Buckstone) and The Shepherd of Ettrick Vale () during September, and were planning a "locally adapted" Great Christmas Pantomime for December. Whether the latter took place or not is not quite certain. .
