Grimaldi, or The Life of an Actress is a drama in five acts by Dion Boucicault (1820-1890)[1].

The original text
The play was based on the life of the actor Joseph Grimaldi (1778-1837)[] and was first performed . Published by Samuel French, 1856.
Translations and adaptations
In 1914 the play was turned into a silent film Grimaldi[2] directed by Charles E. Vernon.
Performance history in South Africa
1876: Performed in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town by Captain Disney Roebuck's company on 29 June, with Aunt Charlotte's Maid (Morton).
