[[Mr Poortemans]] (17**-18**) was apparently a [[magic lantern]] entertainer, who appeared in Cape Town as part of an evening's entertainment presented by [[Vlyt en Kunst]] in the [[African Theatre]] on 10 September 1836. His contribution was an interlude, described as a "zeer prachtig Transparant" ("a very beautiful transparency"), while the rest of the programme included Montoni, of Het Kasteel van Udolpho (Duval/Bruggemans), Nognetzoo (Boniface), Het Fancy Bal!!!.
