Perlé van Schalkwyk(19*-) Is an actress and exotic dancer (using the stage name Gigi or GiGi).
She studied acting at the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department, and has also trained in ballet, jazzart, mime and piano. At Stellenbosch she played the girl in Noel Roos's fully nude production of Peter Schaffer's Equus (1988).
Her early professional acting career included productions for PACT and CAPAB, and a performance of Spellbound at Sun City, after which she concentrated on exotic dancing, doing shows at Sun City and elsewhere.
In the late 1990s she returned to theatre, doing a series of plays about a strip tease artiste (Whore, Nipple Caps and G-Strings and Academy of Love), written and directed by Deon Opperman and performed at the various festivals. Other productions include ** , Hartebees (Alexander Strachan, KKNK, 2000), ***.
She also owns a strip club.
