Performed in Hoftheater Würzburg in May and published in Vienna, 1799; and also in his collected works in Augsburg, 1806. (Also written Der Lorberkranz, oder die Macht der Gesetze)

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Dutch as De Lauwerkrans, of Het Gezag der Wetten by an unknown translator , and published in Amsteldam, by J. Doll, 1801.

Performances in South Africa

1815: Performed in Dutch in Cape Town by Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense on 4 September, with De Belachelyke Zelfmoord (Martainville).

1818: Performed in Dutch in Cape Town by Tot Nut en Vermaak on 6 June 1818.

1849: Performed in Dutch in Cape Town by Tot Nut en Vermaak en Door Yver Vruchtbaar on 27 July, with Een Uur Achter Slot, of De Brief van Aanbeveling (Honig).
