GAMBLE, Rollo. (18**-19**) Director. In 1937 directed University of Cape Town students in a production of ''[[Wild Decembers]]'', after which, determined to form a professional company, he founded the ''[[Theatre Club]]''. Their first performance was of Pirandello’s ''[[Six Characters in Search of an Author]]'' in 1938, at the [[Little Theatre]], with [[Zoe Randall]], [[Wensley Pithey]], [[Marot Lassner]], [[Frank Hammerton]], [[Fred Loehnen]] and Gamble himself. (This was the first professional production to be staged at this theatre.)
