Man in a Sidecar is a 1971 play by by Simon Gray (1936-2008).

Also sometimes billed as Man in a Side-Car.

Original text

Man in a Side-Car tells of an unusual trio: successful novelist Edith and her husband of a few years, Gerald, and their friend Tommy, who has been living with them for the past four years. It is Tommy who is the man in the side-car, riding along with Gerald, his helpless mate, going wherever he is taken.

The play was was first broadcast by the BBC as a Play for Today on 27 May 1971.

Translations and adaptations

TV movie was filmed for South African audiences, directed by Peter Goldsmid, produced by Roy Sargeant, and with the following cast: Dorothy Ann Gould, Drummond Marais, Andre Jacobs, James White, Lynne White, Arthur Hall.
