Bennie Fritz (1927?-2015) was a journalist, editor, author and playwright


Biography

He was the editor of Rooi Rose for two years, before becoming the literary editor for Huisgenoot in 1975. Hiughly regarded as editor by his contemporaries, he also wrote numerous Afrikaans novels (more than 30), short stories and serials over the years, besides encouraging and publishing writers.

He passed away in George on 12 May, 2015.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

His writing included a large number of plays and radio scripts (e.g for Springbok Radio and the Afrikaans service of Radio South Africa), the pieces including Bruid vir 'n Gestorwe Man,
